Encompassing a full city block, the Overture Center for the Arts is a 400,000 square-foot visual and performing arts facility located in the heart of downtown Madison. The center houses seven stages, a 220-seat lecture hall, five art galleries, and the new Madison Museum of Contemporary Art.
Unique features of the building include the modern dome atop the restored historic Yost's facade, which is visible from many vantage points in the downtown area. In addition, the exterior of the massive glass curtain-wall of Overture Hall Lobby are the largest insulated glass panels in any building in the world.
Other notable aspects of this project involve sustainable building efforts resulting in 5,395 tons of materials that were recycled throughout the construction. During all phases of the project, Findorff worked closely with Overture Center, Madison Environmental Group and WasteCap Wisconsin to achieve a 55% recycling rate overall.
Overture Center has been the recipient of numerous design and construction awards including Midwest Construction's Best of 2004, the National Concrete Association's Concrete Design Award for Environmental Excellence, Wisconsin Builder's Top Projects Award, AGC of Wisconsin's Build Wisconsin Award, and WCREW's Showcase Award.
